Industrial Development Authority of Prince William County FOIA (Freedom of Information Act) Policy 11.6.17

The Industrial Development Authority of Prince William County, herein known as the IDA, shall make all reasonable efforts to provide transparency to the Citizens of the County being its nature as a Public Body. Therefore all meetings are to be considered open to the public, except when the IDA is permitted by applicable law to convene in closed session.

Except as otherwise required or permitted by applicable law, materials, documents, financials, media, communications and electronic records produced and archived as a result of business of the IDA shall be considered Public Records to be presented for inspection by any requesting party whom shall have standing. Requests may be made in any manner permitted by applicable law so chosen by the requesting party. The IDA recommends that requests be provided via postal mail to: The Prince William County IDA, P.O. Box 2636, Manassas, VA 20108 or via email to idaofpwc@pwcida.org.

The IDA will not reply to requests from third parties, except as may be required by applicable law. In accordance with applicable law, upon receipt of all FOIA requests the IDA will use its reasonable best efforts to respond within five (5) days, although the IDA reserves the right to request an extension of an additional seven (7) days (or such longer extension as may be permitted by applicable law) to all requesting parties. Copies of the requested records required to be produced will be provided at a cost to the requesting party, in accordance with applicable law. The costs shall be based on both time and materials needed for such reproduction to the fullest extent permitted by law. Additionally the IDA reserves the right to withhold any records and engage in closed meetings as allowed by law.

Regular meetings of the IDA are currently scheduled on the first Monday of each month at 6:30pm, except as amended by the Directors of the IDA, to be generally held at the McCoart Building in Prince William County, Virginia absent prior notice to the contrary.

In the event any policies stated herein conflict with §2.2-3700 thru §2.2-3714 of the Code of Virginia, such Commonwealth law shall supersede the IDA policies.
